Hi friends! First off- how are you? It’s been over 1.5 years since I have written a blog post- how?! Well, I suppose I can answer that myself. To be frank, I got distracted, discouraged, and overwhelmed. I was trying to complete my master’s degree, while also dealing with some health issues in my immediate family. On top of that, 5 months after my last blog post, when I was ready to start writing again, a pandemic began and any and all of my creative juices stopped flowing. I figured the new year is a great time to start writing again (I always get annoyed at people who trash new years’ resolutions. I love a fresh start, and January 1 always brings that). Here is my personal list of 21 things to be grateful for in 2021.
21 Things to Look forward to in 2021…
1. A fresh start.
New years always brings a new beginning. I am looking forward to journaling more, learning how to manifest, and meditating at least a few times a week.
2. Walking down the aisle!
My fiancé, Josh, proposed in May, and I have been eagerly planning our wedding since. We will be getting married on June 18, 2021.
3. Refreshing my blog.
I am finally going to write about what I want to write about – not what all the “professional” bloggers say to write about.
4. Traveling abroad for the first time!
Josh and I are planning to go to the Bahamas for our honeymoon, and this will be my first time out of the country (thanks, corona)! I am really looking forward to experiencing another culture and resetting for a week.
5. Beginning my second year of teaching.
For those of you who have been here since the beginning, you know that I just recently finished grad school in May for my Master’s in Education. I started my first teaching job this past August, and I am excited to begin my “sophomore year” of teaching in 2021.
6. Going to the beach!
Josh and I will be making plenty of trips to the beach this year!
7. Celebrating the 4th of July.
This past 4th of July consisted of a close family member passing amidst a global pandemic. I am excited this summer to hopefully celebrate in a more “normal” way.
8. Decorating my apartment!
Should I write a post about how I found good deals, how I chose to decorate, etc.? Let me know!
9. Working on using my creative side.
Aside from blogging, I want to work on practicing photography, working on Josh’s vlog / business with him, and updating my wardrobe!
10. Taking the new pup on hikes.
Josh and I adopted a sweet rescue dog from the shelter in August. Her name is Nala, and we are over the moon in love. In 2021, we want to take her to more hiking spots and parks.
11. Warm weather!
During the summer, the pandemic was much more tolerable with more activities to do safely outside. I am looking forward to the sunshine and warmth of 2021!
I am really hoping that I will be able to make it to at least one in-person concert in 2021!
13. New Netflix shows
I was a binge-watcher before 2020, and I will continue to be one after 🙂
14. January 4, 2021.
Aka a new season of the Bachelor!
15. Summer break!
Perks of being a teacher – I get 9 weeks off in the summer. 🙂
16. Life going back to semi-normal.
While I recognize that the new year doesn’t mean the pandemic will just magically be over (as much as we all want that), it does mean that it is one step closer to being done!
17. Discovering new books.
Any recommendations? I am going to do a post about the best books I’ve read recently soon.
18. Exploring Cleveland a bit more once it reopens.
I want to try new restaurants, cafes, movie theaters, and boutique shops!
19. Find a brand new bottle of rosè.
Again- any recommendations?
20. Turning 25!
A quarter of a century- now that’s a milestone.
21. Ringing in 2021 quaratine-style.
I am ready for you, January 1, 2021!
There are probably 21,000 things to look forward to in 2021, but those are my top choices.
If it provides any solace to anyone, I know that, at the bare minimum, we won’t be hit with a NEW pandemic in March. At least we are getting used to Covid a bit…look at the bright side, right?
