laughing on the porch!

October is here, fall is in the air, and I am one happy girl! This is my favorite season by far, and I am so excited that it’s finally time for pumpkin and apple picking, costumes, and sweater weather. One of the big reasons I’m partial to fall is because of it is filled with special birthdays! Two of my roommates are October babies, both of my parents were born this month, and Josh turns 22 on the 19th! And…my birthday is the day after Halloween. 🙂 It’s a month full of celebrating— a new season, birthdays, and a holiday! It is also the perfect opportunity to reflect on what has been achieved this year.

Anyway… some of the best parts about Autumn are the pumpkin recipes, change of wardrobe (finally!!), and cozy evenings snuggled up by the TV. Listed below are my favorite things about fall. What are your favorites? Leave a comment!

Fall favorites…

Candles

My mom always had candles burning around the house growing up, and a lot of my roommates do the same thing, so I am partial to a good candle. My current favorite scent is “Kitchen Spice” because it reminds me of the mulling spices my mom always has on the stove during this time of year. Some other great scents are:

  • Pumpkin (obviously)
  • Brown Sugar Chestnut
  • & Red Apple!

Scarves

I recently bought this scarf (pictured above) from Abercrombie & Fitch. You can wear it as a blanket scarf with a cute long-sleeved shirt, or you can style it as a wrap, like I did here! Scarves are one of my favorite pieces for fall because they are so versatile and cozy. I love that you can dress them up for work or down for picking pumpkins!

Booties

Another fall staple. There are so many options out there, that sometimes it’s hard to choose what you even want! Pictured above are my new favorite booties that I purchased from Nordstrom Rack. They are Steve Madden, and are on sale for about 20% off! Click here for the link to my shoes.

Baked Goods

The options for baked goods are ENDLESS. From pies to apple crisp to pumpkin bread, I wish that I could have the baked goods in my house for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Click here for some great pumpkin-themed recipes!

Halloween Movies

I’ll be honest, I’ve never been a huge fan of scary movies. I prefer lovey-dovey teen romance flicks. BUT, October does put me in the ~spooky~ spirit, and I can’t turn down a Halloween classic. Luckily, ABC Family (ahem, “Free Form”) has officially announced that every night in October, they are going to air Halloween specials! This is an increase from their normal 13 nights of Halloween. I am excited to watch a classic movie I’ve never seen this October.

Although fun fall items are always an exciting part of the season; there are a lot of changes that take place besides the weather (still waiting for that cool fall breeze over here in Columbus, Ohio!!!). I love that with fall comes a new school year, the holiday season, and football. Sometimes, I think fall is a better time to start up new habits than New Year’s. I suppose because you get a fresh slate with the new school year, it has always felt like a new beginning to me. This season, I challenge you to try something new that you have always wanted to do. Maybe it’s volunteering with a local organization that you have always admired, or maybe it’s paying it forward by buying a stranger a cup of coffee.

That’s it for this morning, guys! Thanks for reading. And, don’t forget to click here to read my article on how to get organized!
