Hi everyone! It’s been a couple of weeks since I have written a new blog post (click here for my last one!), and I have really missed connecting with you guys. Thank you to everyone for your patience. Over these last two weeks I have been focusing on catching up with school work, and then I went on vacation. My boyfriend, Josh, and I took a spring break road trip down to St. Petersburg in Florida! It was the best week, and I am so happy that I get to share a bit of our time down there with you all.
We left for Florida on Saturday, March 9 in the afternoon and arrived early the next day. Josh and I took turns driving, and it took us about 16 hours total to get there (fun new realization about
There are a number of reasons we decided to vacation in St. Petersburg. First and foremost, it was within driving distance from Ohio. We also were looking for more of a coastal beach town, rather than a spring break town, and St. Petersburg definitely had that vibe. We wanted to explore restaurants and attractions, such as local breweries and downtown shops! This is our second vacation together (unless you count my 5 trips to El Paso to visit Josh while he was living on base in Fort Bliss), and I have to say that we make pretty good traveling companions. We like a lot of the same food and we have very similar interests, so it was a great week.
Here’s a rundown of our week in St. Petersburg…
We spent the afternoon at our hotel’s pool, then had dinner & drinks by the water.
Woke up early to get to the beach! Stayed there until lunch time, then spent the rest of the day by the pool (I napped by the pool while Josh went to the gym).
Dolphin watching & snorkeling at Egmont State Park, a little island about 45 minutes from St. Pete’s Beach. It was absolutely breathtaking there. The water was a bit cloudy, so we didn’t see too much when we snorkeled, but it was still so much fun.
All day pool day with dinner at our hotel. Side note: We stayed at the Hollander Boutique Hotel in Downtown St. Petersburg and we loved it! I would definitely recommend it to anyone considering taking a vacation to St. Pete.
Our last full day! We headed to the beach early again then spent the afternoon by the pool. This trip went by way too fast!
This was my first ever spring break trip, and we both had so much fun. I definitely was not ready to leave, but as I’m typing this in my comfortable bed in Ohio, I have to say I am happy to be back. I only have 7 more weeks until graduation, so I am definitely going to make the most of it while I can.
Have a great week everyone, and I will talk to you next week. Thanks for reading!
P.S. Here are a few more pictures from our trip!
